Curriculum

Jells Park Primary School is a school with a strong commitment to encouraging all students to strive for excellence in a supportive environment, which recognises individual differences and different rates of learning.

Literacy and Numeracy are given special emphasis within the school’s integrated curriculum. Additional programs operating include Early Years Literacy, Early Years Numeracy, Reading Recovery, Enriching Mathmatics Understanding Program, Religious Education and GATEWAYS.

Other events that enrich our school’s learning programs include: theme days, visiting authors, artists and performers, Chess Club, Kelly Sports, Instrumental Music Lessons, Gymnastics Club, Maths challenges (Maths Olympiads-Maths Talent Quest), Tournament of Minds, Wakakirri, Joining the Chorus, a comprehensive Incursion/Excursion Program, Family Maths and Science Evenings.

Sport and Physical Education are important aspects of the school’s program with students participating in inter-school sport, intensive swimming and specialist P.E. lessons. A Sequential Outdoor Education Program involves all children from Prep – Year 6 with overnight camps being offered from Year 3. A recently introduced fitness program, which monitors individual progress, is proving to be very successful.

The Creative and Performing Arts Program is a special feature of the school’s Integrated Curriculum and is demonstrated at weekly assemblies which parents are able to attend. An annual highlight is the School Concert where teachers and students work together to choreograph dance and movement pieces around a theme.
