Outdoor Education and Camps
The Outdoor Education Program at Jells Park PS is seen as an integral part of the learning process for students. It provides valuable educational and social opportunities for students in settings and circumstances outside everyday school life.
It promotes the development of socialisation, independence, cooperation and responsibility. It also allows students to develop skills of observation, note taking, and reporting of events and to undertake new physical challenges.
The Outdoor Education Program at Jells Park PS provides a sequential progression of camp experiences:
Preps - A Pyjama Party one evening at the school.
Grade’s 1 & 2 - Twilight Activity evening at the school.
Grade 3 - A one night sleep-over camp at Ballarat.
Grade 4 - A two night camp at Phillip Island Activity Resort.
Grade 5 - A four night camp at Coonawarra Camp in Gippsland.
Grade 6 - A four night Educational Tour / Camp of Canberra.
A bi-annual invitation for selected student to attend the Somers Camp is also issued by the Education Department. This is a nine-day camp and includes students across a variety of different schools.
