Wakakirri
STORY-DANCE
Wakakirri Story-Dance is a 3-7 minute performance, by students, on stage using a blend of creative movement and acting to pre-recorded music and/or live singing. Each item needs to be telling a story (either original or known), delivered on stage with a clear ‘beginning, middle, end’. A huge emphasis is on recycling and reusing materials which Jells Park PS has been rewarded on over the past 2 years.
In 2005, Jells Park PS performed ‘Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego?’ and we had fantastic success. We reached the state finals, performing at Vodafone Arena, where we received a silver award.
In 2006, our story dance followed the theme of sport and nearly 100 students participated.
In 2008, our story dance was called Bibbidi Bobbidi Boo and was based loosely on the fairytale Cinderella.
STORY-SINGING
2005 was the first year that Jells Park PS entered in the Wakakirri Story-Singing. It involves 5 students writing and composing the lyrics, music and singing. They also did exceptionally well reaching the state finals and winning gold.
